Objectives in Social Work Profession
To provide opportunity to student to work in professional setting to develop and demonstrate skills in social work: This means that through field work enable a student to know and understand how his or her profession is done in realistic way or real life situation during service provision. for example through studying field work practice to student it can help to be aware about all area that can be placed to apply their knowledge and skills that get in the class room, also due to studying integrated field work practice can enable a student be aware about different agency, and their responsibility during service provision.(Mohammad,1970)
To enable a student learn on how to apply social work method: This is done through the situation of helping individual, group, and community to solve their difficulty in social work profession integrated field work practice it's important because in social work a social worker it must be work with people in the society so as to solve the problem so through studying integrated field work practice to student which aim to prepare a student for doing field work where by a student go to transfer the knowledge and skills of social work profession that get in the class to practice in real life situation. For example in class room a student learn the social work method which are case work , group work, and community work method that used in assisting the society to solve his or her problem which done in the society for practical training or learning.(Corliss, Lupe and et al ,1998)
To enable a student be able to make connections between theories and actual realistic, Through this the student will be able to connect the theories or knowledge that get in classroom to actual realistic because in social work a social worker work with community to assist to solve his or her problem so through field work practice enable student to transfer the knowledge get in class to outside so as to solve the problem, for example during classroom a student teach us how can handle client which come with different situation without discriminate it so when come in field work help them to transfer something studying to real life.(ISWR1996)
To prepare a student become competency in social worker profession: It’s to prepare a student to be good professional social worker because through studying integrated field work practice to student is direct to go to field for doing or practice in practical which enable a student to become a competent social worker . For example in institute of social work have subject which involves field work practice which aims to prepare student to go field for doing activities or apply the knowledge have into practical way on how to solve different problem of people in the society.(Gambrill,2003)
To promote practice competence to students by learning to apply the knowledge values, and skills of social work profession: The field work practice helps the student to have competence when he solves various problems faced by society and uses his profession that he studied in class and goes to practice in real life situation. For example, a marital conflict social worker becomes a professional in that area and has a high level of competence to resolve or help people to leave conflicts that are what makes the social worker suitable to handle the case and complete the termination. Integrated field work practice also the student can have the skills and knowledge to be able to have a sense of confidence during the field work practice in various agencies or organizations. Also when a student volunteers in various agencies, it leads to having knowledge and skills to be able to solve a problem without referring to a colleague. (Barker, 1995)
Enable a student to get familiar with different administration system: is another objectives which aims to help a student when going to real practice to be easy to interact with other members in the organization that has been placed for doing actual work .for example me in school I learn different knowledge that among of them is on how can interact with other people especially who are members of administrative system so when I go to field it enable me to be easy to collaborate and be familiar with them.(maidment,2000)
Conclusion The integrated field work practice is important to social work profession because it gives a chance student to work in practical way enable us to be competency and be have confidence to work with people direct in kind of individual, group, and community in order to solve their problem , but when there is no field work practice in social work it can lead to incompetent social worker because they have knowledge that is not tried to apply in real life before which can lead difficulty to them during service provision due to lack of experience. The overall objective of field work practicum is to give students an opportunity to apply theories and knowledge leant in class room into real life setting.
